Balustrade wireprovides the safety barrier in order to prevent a person from falling from a roof, stairway, or raised floor level.   The balustrade wire requires attention during and after installation.

When installed the installer needs to ensure that the required wire tension is achieved to meet NCC regulations.  The tension can be measured using a strain indicator such as a Tension Gauge.

Over time wires can sometimes begin to loosen due to the initial stretch in the wire, fittings not locked off correctly or people tampering with the wires. If the wire has loosened this can cause an issue as adequate support is not being achieved on your balustrade.

So after installation it is advised to periodically check the wire tension and re-tighten as required. Most systems available through Miami Stainless have the ability to be easily tightened.  As there are so many systems the method of tightening varies greatly.

If you need advice on the best method of tightening wire, the team at Miami Stainless is here to assist. Contact our team today or complete our Wire Tensioning Advice Form below and one of our team will reply with advice within 24 hours.  Likewise, visit our F.A.Q page here.
